Tula, my new love, in July.

A few months back a good friend of mine, along with a few others started an online Fashion magazine called Tula. Tula is a bi-monthly Calgary based mag that focus' on the arts, fashion, culture and the world around us. It's the perfect place for us to express what we think is important; it's our voice. I have written two articles now, and I plan to continue to. I really love that Tula is real. The people behind it are young and connected with their audience and the world in which they live.

The July article will be up in a few days, and I really hope that you'll check it out. Here's a sneak peak at the photo-shoot for my article: The Art of Getting Through an Identity Crisis (Fashionably)

School's out!

I am so excited. School is finally over and it's summertime. Well, actually, I didn't quite finish Social Studies, so I have to go to school for the rest of the week to try and finish it. Let's be honest though; now that some of my friends have cars, I haven't gotten too much done. We're always going on Tim Horton's runs (for those of you outside of Canada, you are seriously missing out on Tim Horton's.), or on some kind of adventure! However I will do my very best to finish it off; there's nothing worse than doing grade ten work in grade eleven, except maybe doing grade ten work in grade twelve.....

In my absence from blogging for the past little while I have accumulated a few ideas, photos and all-round epicness to share with you guys.

The first and most important being my new bedroom, which my good friend Danielle and I decided to decorate one day after her making a comment about how boring it was. So we went on an exploration around my house to find things to make it more "Suzanne-like". It was actually very fun. One of my favorite pieces that we found is a rug that my Dad had gotten when he travelled around Asia before university. I also found these suitcases that I had painted when I was younger. I always thought they were pretty cool, although admittedly I was not the best artist when I was younger.... Never the less, they are there! I also found this stone horse that my Dad has had forever and Danielle gave me a little heck for it, as it's a fairly unattractive horse. However, it's something that I have always loved, so I put it in there anyways.
Here it is:

Also, I've mentioned in a previous post that I decided to boycott all Chinese products and told you that I'd keep you posted. Well, it is very difficult. Today in particular, as I was in BCBG and my Danielle convinced me to try on this really cute mini dress for fun even though it was made in China. Needless to say, I fell in love with it. I was not a happy camper when I had to leave the store without it. I was extremely surprised to find that BCBG was made in china, as they're a higher end brand that, in my opinion, should be made in places with higher quality clothing making history. But hey, that's life!

urban outfitters

Those are some accesories that I've been craving lately. :)

I'm really behind in school so my Dad put me on lockdown, and that's why I haven't been posting. My schools cut off date is June 12, so after that I'll be a blogging machine!

Who needs patterned tights when you've got patterned sunburn?

First off, I am super-duper sorry for being such a freaking lazy blogger!! I've been really busy with school and the play (I'm on the costume crew for my school's play), and I also went down to Mexico for Easter break. So, yeah, I do have somewhat valid excuses, however they certainly do not excuse my poor blogging behavior, err, lack of blogging behavior.....
Anyways, my trip to Mexico was brilliant! I was staying about an hour away from Cancun just outside of a town called Playa Del Carmen. It was amazing; the weather was warm, although there was a bit of a cold spell when we first go down there-only about 28 celsius!! I was a little camera lazy though, so i didn't get too many cool pictures. But I will show you the ones that I did get! Or if you want to see all of them, just add me as a friend on facebook, and when I post them on there you can see the full extent of my trip.

I had quite the adventure in the Denver airport....

The patterned sunburn I was referring to in the tittle. Yes, I know I need to learn how to put on sunscreen.

I felt that I absolutely needed to show you guys pictures of what one of the Art 20 students did because I think that it's just brilliant!!! She made a duct tape dress. I know, pretty badass. Mad props to you Vanessa. Take a look:

Last but not least I feel like I should introduce you to my good friend Keagan, who was actually the head of costumes for the play, and also has really amazing style. So this is what she was wearing when we were leaving to go get food after school before the play on Monday. I apologize that I didn't get that great of pictures, but my camera was dying, so I took what I could.

Keagan along with my friend Monica, whom you've met before and Dan, who played Oscar in our production of The Odd Couple.

So, it's one thirty in the morning and I'm fairly tired, as most nights I would've been in be about four hours ago. I know, I'm kind of a dork. I'm going to sleep now!!
Oh, and by the way, as soon as I got back to Calgary from Mexico it snowed. I am not a happy camper, as I was planning on pulling my longboard out! Hopefully it'll melt soon. Send me warm weather vibes!!!! Bye all, and comment away!!

NYC street style.

As I was looking on street peeper I found this girl from New York and just had to share her with you. I absolutely love how she wears her vintage pieces. So cute.
So I apologize for not posting that much lately, but I've been a little stressed out with school and stuff. I'm on the costume crew for my school's play coming up, so that's been taking up a lot of my time, and I'm also pretty behind with my school work.
However, once I'm done with this school business I will definitely will try to post more often. Until then, just bear with me!!

Boycott.

vest - H&M, shirt - old navy, necklace - aldo, skirt - kill city

This is the outfit that I wore for my birthday dinner this weekend. I'm officially sixteen, whoo!!!! haha. I had an amazing birthday; there was powder when I was coaching, so that was amazing.

Also after studying a bit of China in school I have made the decision to boycott China. I officially started my boycott yesterday and believe me, this is going to be very difficult.

If at all possible I will try not to buy anything made is china unless it's thrifted. I will not get rid of the Chinese products that I already own because that would be silly, but I will do everything in my power not to purchase Chinese made products. I will keep you guys posted on my progress!

Circle Scarf's are epic.

cardigan - wilfred, jeans - f21, scarf (worn as top) - aa, t shirt - american eagle, shoes - kenneth cole

So today I thought that I'd try something new with my circle scarf. I thought I'd try to wear it as a figure eight dress, but it kind of choked me, so I did the top instead. It was really quite comfy. :)
So I'm a little behind in writing an article for Tula, so I have to get on that! Happy wednesday everyone!!

It's too cold out!!

I think I should have been born in Florida or someplace warm like that! I am not made for -30 degree weather!!

vest - thrifted/diy, shirt - old navy, pants - mom's, belt - vintage, shoes - Kenneth Cole, bag - aldo

After many attempts, I think I've finally figured out how to work the whole menswear trouser trend, and I kind of love it. In many of my first trials I had a hard time staying true to my own personal style, but I really like how this outfit turned out.

Alright, I have to go do homework. I pretty far behind in school right now, so I have to get at her!!

dress - tommy hilfiger, cardigan - wilfred, scarf - aa, necklace - aldo, belt - vintage, tights - smart set, shoes - payless
This is my outfit from yesterday. I had not worn my blue tights in quite a while, so I threw them on yesterday just for the heck of it. So normally I wear this shirt dress with a belt around my hip area, but I think I like it way better with the skinny belt up higher.

Also, you guys should check out Tula, which is an online mag that my good friend Jeanine helped start, and I'll be writing for in the near future.

Blazer Mania.

blazer - vintage, shirt - The Rocket (custom T-shirt store), jeans - f21, boots - vintage

blazer - vintage, shirt - american eagle, jeans - france, shoes - nine west, necklaces - vintage

Just a short entry today.
I've been looking for some new Blazers; I'm thinking perhaps an over sized menswear style? I'll probably go to goodwill sometime soon and look for one.

I know, lazy, lazy Suzanne. Don't worry, I've been scolding myself too!

I really love how DKNY Jeans styled their spring 09 ads. They made it bright enough with the mix of colours they used, but it was still fairly laid back and chill. I really love it.

HAIR CUT!!

As you can see, I got a haircut. I was going for a sort of Agyness Deyn look, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Also, I had a cupcake decorating shindig on saturday for valentines day, and My friend Monica came in such a cute outfit I had to share it with you. Check out how cute she is:

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, I seriously need to upgrade to a better camera.

Have a heart.

dress - only, shoes - Kenneth Cole

Alright, finally, here are the pictures from my school's February formal last week. Sorry it took me so long, but I was waiting for Rob to email me the photos he took. The dance was a blast!

Normally, I'm the first one to pile on the accessories, however with this dress I couldn't really find anything I liked with it. I guess with such a huge sequin bow anything else would have looked silly.

Robert was there with all his super nice photography stuff taking pictures for a few dollars which went towards the heart and stroke foundation which was cool. If you want to see more of his work check him out here and here.

ps - I love all your comments, much appreciated. you all know how to make a blogger smile!
